Case study – Pressed beet pulp transport in Ukraine
2020-2021
pressed best pulp, dried beet pull, beet pulp pellets
Modernized existing plant
Confined space conditions
Agro-Express-Service is a company who is active in the Ukraine corn-, and grain- farming industry on an agricultural land of approx. 32 thousand hectares. Among other, Agro-Express-Service operates a sugar plant located in the town Maryanovka, Ukraine, with a daily beet processing capacity more than 7.000 tons. In 2020 the customer decided to reconstruct and modernize the beet-pulp drying station and to reconstruct the pulp-pellets warehouses.
Extensive planning work was required for this intervention in the existing plant, which was carried out by a local engineering company. Already in the planning phase the customer was consulted and supported by Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH, which became a reliable partner to choose modern and durable conveying systems. Loibl’s huge experiences for pressed beet pulp, dried beet pulp and pelletized beet pulp, based on the supply of conveying systems for various purposes and bulk materials could be used.
Part of the project is a new single-pass drum dryer with the capacity of 400 t/day dried beet pulp, as well as 3 pieces of the pellet mills with a capacity 8-9 t/day each, both from well-known German manufacturers. Therefore, the customer realizes to reconstruct 2 warehouses with a storage capacity of up to 10.000 tons each, a pelletizing department, and a packaging station with the capacity 350 t/day to fill pellets into bags.
For the enclosed vertical transport of wet pressed beet-pulp, between the two existing pulp presses and the new feeding hopper, Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH delivers a suitable vertical screw conveyor with a diameter of 1.000 mm, length of approx 12.000 mm, with a frequency-controlled motor and a horizontal feeding screw with a diameter of 800 mm.
Due to the Loibl’s design and arrangement it was possible to install a conveying system in a limited area and as an alternative to a planned inclined rake conveyor. Both screw conveyors designed in stainless steel to minimize corrosion.
The speed of the vertical screw shaft and the filling level of the vertical screw housing were calculated according to the requirements and based on Loibl’s experience and references. The inner design of the tubular housing favored a vertical transport. Inner shaft bearings have not been used to ensure a good material flow to the top.
Behind the vertical screw conveyor and before the drying station Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH delivers a live-screw-bottom for the customers hopper, which will allow to stabilize the material flow for the continuous and proper feeding of the new beet pulp drier, even if the feeding from the pulp presses station will be uneven due to technical matters. Each screw shaft with conical and progressive blades has a frequency-controlled motor to adapt the total discharge capacity of the hopper to the drying process. Also, a corrosion-resistant stainless-steel version was used here.
After the drying station for beet pulp Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH delivers a Chain Bucket Elevator made from carbon steel with a positive discharge and a double strand chain, which will be suitable for the reliable discharge of the bulk material with a low bulk density of 250 kg/m³ and convey the bulk material, which may change the bulk density and DM content from time to time. The Loibl chain bucket elevator with a bucket width of 630 mm and an axile distance of approx. 15.000 mm was adapted to the requirements and structural conditions.
For an optimal and maximum feed up of the two warehouses with each 10.000 tons beet- pulp pellets, as an energy-rich food for ruminants, Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH delivers one stationary and one movable reversible belt conveyor for each warehouse with belt widths of 650 mm. This belt conveyors are operating in automatic mode, provided with all safety equipment’s.
The customer also ordered at Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH the necessary slide gate valves (made in stainless steel), in different sizes, manual and pneumatically driven, to control the material flows of the process for all mentioned types of bulk material.
After the assembly by the customer, Loibl makes an installation check and accompanies the commissioning for a successful sugar beet campaign.
Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH is a DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer and supplier of bulk conveying systems for a wide variety of processing operations in a sugar factory.
