As an construction mechanic you will make steel and sheet metal structures as well as conveyor systems. For this purpose you will fabricate individual components of sheet metals, profiles as well as pipes which are then assembled.

As a cutting machine operator you will make precision components mostly of metal by machining processes such as turning, milling, drilling or grinding. You will normally work with computer-controlled CNC machine tools, make the set-up and monitor the production process. You will also learn what has to be done in the event of technical malfunctions.

What can you expect during your 2-year apprenticeship? As a machine and plant operator specializing in metal and polymer technology, you will be at the heart of industrial production. You will learn how to set up, operate and monitor machines and systems for the manufacture of metal and plastic components and products. First, you will inspect the order documents, prepare the required materials and set up the appropriate machines - be it turning, drilling, grinding, sawing or forming machines. You are responsible for the assembly of components and ensure that the production processes run smoothly by keeping an eye on the quality and packaging of the finished products. In the event of deviations or malfunctions, you will intervene and ensure that everything is back to normal. You will also carry out regular maintenance on the machines so that they are always ready for operation.

Technical product designer in the field mechanical and plant engineering will participate in the development of equipment and machinery. On the basis of customer specifications you will prepare 3-D models for components and assemblies as well as manufacturing drawings.
