Boiler inspections: high up during the overhaul
The boiler inspection was particularly exciting for the participants. Our trainees were able to experience boiler line 2 up close during the overhaul. Climbing into the boiler not only gave them a practical insight into the maintenance and servicing of the plant, but also highlighted the enormous technical challenges associated with the repair and operation of the boilers.

Between the various stops on the tour, there were exciting presentations about everyday working life at the GMVA and the staff on site. This information helped our apprentices to develop a better understanding of the working methods and daily challenges faced by employees at the waste incineration plant. Towards the end of the visit, a workshop tour took place during which the Wet Slag Conveyor by Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH was discussed. This gave our apprentices an in-depth insight into the technical details and functionality of the systems they had developed.
Insights and findings: Trainees report
Our apprentices were delighted with their visit to GMVA Niederrhein GmbH. “It was impressive to experience the technologies that we normally only see on screen in real life and in action,” reports Daniel B., a technical product designer apprentice at Loibl. The visit enabled them to better understand the connections between conveyor technology and waste incineration. The insight into the day-to-day work of GMVA employees also offered new perspectives and valuable insights.
